Shelley Collins becomes South Africa's first ever IFBB Wellness PRO bodybuilder

Shelley Collins made history at MuscleMulisha this past weekend when she became the first South African Wellness athlete to turn pro.

Shelley who is wife to men's physique athlete Clayton Collins won the wellness overall category which resulted in her winning her PRO card. This gives her the passport to travel the world and to compete at shows which are at the highest level of the sport.

What is Wellness?

Wellness is a fairly new division in the IFBB which was only introduced in 2016. It's become so popular so quick because it encourages larger hips and bums which in modern society those have become body goals for many women. Wellness competitors are pleasing to look it even for non bodybuilding fans.

This is how the IFBB describe it on their website:

The wellness fitness division is intended for women who prefer a muscular physique without muscle separation and who wish to be athletic and aesthetically pleasing, with a bigger body mass than in bikini fitness. Vertical proportions - legs to upper-body length - is one of the key factors. Horizontal proportions of hips and waist to shoulder width may favour women with slightly bigger hips, thighs and buttocks.

Yarishna

The picture above is Yarishna, a top tier IFBB Wellness competitor. This is the level of physique Shelly needs to reach to if
she harbours any thoughts of making it to the very top of the PRO League chain. With her good work ethic and the strong support structure she has, I don't see any reason why she won't reach it in a few years time.
