Tristan gears up for December showdown

SA Mens Physique competitor Tristan Marias has outlined his game plan for the December IFBB Pro qualifier.

Persistence hunting is a hunting technique in which hunters, use a combination of runningwalking and tracking to pursue prey over prolonged time and distance until it is exhausted by fatigue or overheating. The strategy is used by African wild dogs, and by human hunter-gatherers.

This best describes Tristan's approach to becoming an IFBB PRO. Playing the long game steadily making improvements and chasing that card down until he's undeniable and theres no option but for him to be rewarded accordingly.

I obviously can't really be impartial coz Tristan is my dawg, but if you follow men's physique closely you'll know that he's definitely next in line.

Having narrowly missed out to Tristan Van Der Bijl in May the plan was to go fetch the card at the William Bonac Classic which was due to be take place in Ghana on the 26th August 2022.

That plan was however derailed by organisers Champagne Productions announcing that due to many athletes being unable to attend the event they have decided to move the Pro Qualifier to April 2023.

So now the Potch Boy has set himself the target of winning the NPC PRO qualifier in Decemeber where 9 PRO CARDS will be handed out.

Speaking about whether or not he's started his prep this is what he had to say:

I’m always on “prep” whether it’s 20 weeks out or 2 weeks out. My lifestyle and the way I do things are exactly the same. Just different calorie and cardio requirements.

He's basically saying he never completely shuts it down where he goes 2/3 months with little or moderate training and eating junk. We heard stories of Ronnie famously going 3 months off everything after each Olympia win but Tris ain't about that life. He's single minded in chasing his goal thus prefers everything remains in check.

Speaking on the improvements he would like to make before he steps on stage Tristan mentions the delts as an area which he is working hard on.

Honestly feel if my shoulders pop more I will take it.

Hard work ahead for him and his coach Jake Watts ahead. But like when a persistence hunter is hounding its prey, the end goal is inevitable - it's only a matter of time.
