South African figure athlete Ozayo Madlalisa is 9 weeks out from her NPC Negional debut.
Hailing from the Eastern Cape, Ozayo has been steadily building her presence in South African figure bodybuilding. Her 2rd place finish at Superbodies 2025 was a statement. Now she returns to the same stage, further along in her development.
I met Ozayo backstage at the Superbodies 2025 show and asked her for an interview to which she happy to do. literally as she was answering my first question the show director is pacing around backstage screams Ozayo's her number tells her she needs to rush on stage. And that was that, we didn't do the interview.
I did get to watch her Class lineup though and was very impressed with the condition she brought, the flow and the structure of her physique. She was ultimately outsized by the more muscular showing that she needs to add overall mass to have a chance of taking home gold.
"For now I am enjoying the growth in the sport, enjoying the stage and just enjoying other people," she said. "I don't want to put myself under any pressure and stress because for me this is a way of living and enjoying life."
But she sees where she wants to go.
"But again I do see myself in bigger stages. I do see myself turning my name to Pro. I do believe in myself but I am not putting myself under any pressure."
