EFC 94: Cameron Saaiman is the NEW EFC Bantamweight Champion👑
On Saturday night Cameron Saaiman shaded Sindile Manengela on points to win the EFC Bantamweight Championship title.
Cameron Saaiman (21) made history by becoming the youngest ever EFC bantamweight holder when he beat Sindile Manengela (38). He still boasts an undefeated record and with team CIT and mentor Dricus Du Plessis in his corner this kid is on an express train to the top.
He ended his previous fights early and in devastating fashion I might add so many doubted his ability to go 5 rounds, especially with an experienced warrior like Sindile.
It was a 5 round battle of attrition: a lot of wrestling, scrambles, transitions and just a lot of skill on the ground displayed by both guys.
The first two rounds were completely dominated by the champ. Got Saaiman down, and held him down pretty all round. MSP did throw a few elbows off his back but none of the fighters did much damage. Sindile 2 - 0 up.
The third is where the tide changed. It started with Cameron being extremely busy doing many different things in the 1st minute. Lots of fakes and feints, attempted head kicks and leg kicks, lots of movement - just overloading the champ with information.
Sindile predictably shot for the takedown, but this time Saaiman got the better of the clinch Saaiman landed on top with 4 minutes of the round to go. The challenger dropped some elbows down on the 38 year old, they wrestled with Saaiman ending up on his back but still managed to strike the champ with some elbows.
Fourth round Cameron was in the acendency, they stood up for the majority of round with the CIT athlete getting the better of the exchanges.
The fifth was more even, very back and forth with both fighters knowing they needed to win the round if thy were to go home with the belt. The 21 year old was the fresher fighter and while they wrestled and traded blows, he got the better of it. He edged the round and in the end edged the fight to get the win on points. 3 rounds to 2.
