NPC AFRICAN: Classic Physique Predictions

We're just 6 days away from the NPC African where a total of 9 PRO CARDS are up for grabs. It's the biggest show of the year athletes from all over the continent will be flying down to compete. We must remember that the William Bonac Classic which was meant to be held in Ghana got moved to 2023 so alot of the West African athletes are gonna pull up.

So over the last few months I ran a series 'SA's Next Pro' where I basically connected with some athletes that would be comping the show. I got to find out more about their mentality going into the show.
Now in the lead up to the NPC African this weekend

These are Vlxd's Classic Physique predictions.

HUGO SCHREUDER 12%

I wrote an article about Hugo a few weeks back and was very impressed with the level of his posing. Looking at the upcoming line up I expect him to be the best poser on Saturday. So I give him a 12% chance because if he brings a balanced package plus outposes everyone there is a chance he takes it.

Kolbe has those Breon Ansley type physiques, complete head to toe no real weaknesses.
The problem is he comes unstuck against physiques which aint necessarily better than his, but rather physiques which are perceived as more classic than his. Taller, wider athletes with a more prodigious v-taper. I think 14% is fair, if he comes in fairly good condition who's to say he cant leave with the card.

GONTSE KUTU 14%

Word on the streets is Gontse will be the most conditioned guy on the stage. You know like how we already know Hadi Choopan will be the most conditioned guy at the Olympia 2022 similar situation here. Having spoken to him  the sense I got is he aims for that knarley conditioning to be his trademark and I know Tristan Marias will be bringing Gontse in as shredded to the bone.

DEV COURKE 23%

Dev has been moving between Classic and open bodybuilding for a minute now. I'm glad he's decided to compete at classic coz he's got the quintessential classic structure. Tall, wide shoulders, v-taper, insane vacuum, x-frame, he has all the tools to succeed. Coach Steph says he's dropping down to 96kg to make weight so the question is whether he can maintain a decent level of fullness. Over the years we've seen athletes look paper thin as soon as they diet down to make weight especially 212 guys. I respect coach Steph so I expected at the very least a competitive package from Dev and for him to be battling it out for the top spots. He's my 2nd favourite to win the show

YOURI MUKANA 37%

Mr Incredible is the overwhelming favourite going into the weekend. If we look back at the last Pro Qualifier where he just lost out to Dylan Dawson , many had him winning the show.
His side chest is unbeatable, his front and back relaxed are unbeatable. YOURI is just too big, too wide and too overwhelming. If he shows up anywhere near his best it's gonna be tough for anyone to stand next to him right now.
